Welcome families! It is Open Registration time for the 2025-2026 school year!

TK Information Night Thursday, January 9 at 6pm at Pine Hill School.

Transitional Kindergarten

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is an early education program designed to bridge the gap between preschool and traditional kindergarten. It provides a unique learning environment tailored for children who are 4 turning 5 before September 1.

By choosing TK, you're giving your child a strong start in their educational journey, setting them up for success in kindergarten and beyond.

Why TK?

1. Age-Appropriate Learning: TK offers a curriculum specifically designed for younger learners, providing a gentle introduction to school routines and academic concepts.

2. Social and Emotional Development: Children in TK have more opportunities to develop crucial social skills and emotional maturity before entering regular kindergarten.

3. Academic Readiness: TK helps build a strong foundation in early literacy, mathematics, and critical thinking skills, preparing children for success in kindergarten and beyond.

4. Smaller Class Sizes: TK often features smaller teacher-to-student ratios, allowing for more individualized attention and support.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten is available to children whose fifth birthdays are on or before September 1st of the school year. Kindergarten curriculum is designed to meet the needs and teach children who are in this age range. Because of this, the kindergarten curriculum is somewhat more challenging and academic than the TK curriculum.

How to register online

Aeries Internet Registration allows you to quickly start the process of registering a student for school. Information about the student such as emergency contacts, medical and language information will be collected. Upon completion, the student's information is electronically sent to the school.

If your 3rd grade student is already enrolled at Pine Hill School you are not required to pre-enroll them for 4th grade at South Bay School.

If you are applying from outside of South Bay residence area you will need to complete an interdistrict transfer application. To begin the process go to your district of residence and complete the application there. For more information on Interdistrict Transfers, see below.
